Safety and privacy

A parent should never have to wonder what their child is seeing. That is the constraint Lakshya was designed around, not a feature added later.

How screening works

Every message a child sends is checked before the AI is allowed to reply.

The screening happens in layers. Automated checks catch the obvious patterns instantly. More capable detection catches the subtler ones — a question that looks academic but is really about something else, or language that suggests a child is in distress. Anything that needs a human eye goes to a trained reviewer, and follow-up with the family happens within minutes when it does.

If a child says something that suggests they are in danger or in crisis, the conversation is routed to their trusted parent contact straight away. Lakshya does not try to counsel a child through a crisis on its own.

What we commit to

Encrypted, and stored in India

Conversations are encrypted in transit and at rest, on infrastructure inside India. No third-country data transfers.

DPDP Act, 2023 compliant

Built to India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act. Parents can export or completely erase their child's data with one action.

Never sold, never shared

No child's data is sold, shared with advertisers, or passed to any external third party. There is no advertising in Lakshya.

Every safety decision is logged

Safety actions are recorded and reviewable — by us, and by a parent who asks to see what happened.

No single point of failure

No one person, including the founder, can act alone on a payment or a safety-critical change. Two people are always required.

Parents hold the controls

Bedtime, daily minutes, content boundaries and the trusted-adult list. Removing a parent from that list requires confirmed identity, not just a password.

What Lakshya deliberately does not do

  • It does not show advertising to children, of any kind.
  • It does not use streaks, leaderboards or push notifications to pull a child back into the app.
  • It does not give a child the answer to their homework, however many times they ask.
  • It does not keep a child in a conversation once the daily limit a parent set has been reached.
  • It does not act as a counsellor. Distress is escalated to a trusted adult.
